For one thing, you describe what you are going to do in any event announcements.
While our baronial Candlemas has often incorporated some classes and occasionally
some fighting, the event is organised around the feast. Don't try to do an
event where you try to cram all possible SCA activities into a single event.

I would love to try such a feast. I think you want to limit the number of
people at such a feast so that you can do a quality job. You are not only
affecting the people who come to the event, but also those that think it
was a neat event and talk about it to their friends. Promote it ahead
of time with flyers at other events, the Kingdom newsletters, other
local newsletters if they will run event announcements, Kingdom and
local mail lists etc.

If you are worried about the cost, perhaps you can do "two" feasts. An
above the salt feast as you suggest and a simpler, much cheaper feast of
perhaps a stew, bread, vegetable, dessert. Simple, period and good but
not expenisve.
