wouldn't do that.) Isn't there a way to do this, short of buying
O'Doul's and serving that at breakfast?

The best way to accomplish what you are suggesting is to get on the Board of
Directors, be nicey nice until you have been able to get all of your friends
and acquaintances that agree with you elected as board members when terms run
out and then change the silly rule. It really is that simple. :-) The
alternative is to move to Australia where relatively cooler heads are in
charge.
I find the 'new' rules absolutely absurd to the nth degree and extremely
repressive regarding the presentation of period events but, OTOH, I am
obligated by my position as an officer to uphold the policies of the
Corporation as well as kingdom laws and local shire customs.
Keeping that in mind I would never recommend ignoring said regulations or
blatantly disregarding them. However, if you can find a means to get around
them, by all means go for the gusto and let me know what you did to nullify
the regs. many folks here would be happy to have such info. SFAIK, the last
time I checked into this, Brewer's Guilds may have been exempt. I can't
imagine that a loop hole that large would have been overseen by the powers
that be but if it is true that may be the way to go.
I have also seen kegs and bar setups donated by various members, guilds and
households set up prominently near the kitchen with servers wandering about
filling glasses from the donated material thus giving adults the opportunity
to indulge in adult pastimes outside the SCA-Inc.'s policies. This is another
alternative.
Beer making materials really are not that expensive and simply getting a
household or private group/person to sponsor the endeavor and discreetly
setting up a donation can is another possibility. I am sure there are others.

Ras
