Pure boric acid can be purchased in the pharmacy
department of most grocers, and is an excellent way
control them.  However, it must be replenished
regularly.  Just to be on the safe side, keep out of
the reach of children and pets.  I had one very
inquisitive cat get into it and roll around in it
until he was coated with white with no obvious side
effects, but I would not recommend it.
