Why not? This is correct. Phylloxera, a mite that feeds on the roots of 
grapevines, is native to the Eastern United States. Labrusco grapes are 
immune to it. The rootstock was imported into Europe where European Vinifera 
was grafted onto it. thereby eliminating the problem of the disease.

So don't pigs and humans. But they are very different creatures even though 
genetically altered pigs using human genes are producing all kinds of things  
like  grafting skin for burn victims and organs for transplant. ;-) The point 
being that the relationship is not that  close and  the departure occurred 
well before the continental land masses separated.
