I taught a class this past weekend at King's College designed to encourage
people to try period food and to show that a feast could be easy, period
and good.
I had 3 people show up, none of whom were particularly interested in my
point, they just knew I was a good cook and were hungry:-)
I took pears in wine syrup, gingerbread, meat pies, beef with pepper sauce
and stuffed bread. I used period sources for all my dishes and provided
sources and recipes in my handout. I didn't have any food left and
everyone thought everything was great but that wasn't the point. NO ONE
showed up with an open mind to period food.
As a matter of fact, the feast was being prepared on the table next to
mine...they were peeling ears of corn...CORN!!
It was just very disappointing.
