We had one in the house I grew up in, and I know several people whose
kitchens have them. The only difference is that my mother wasn't a good
sport about allowing retractable shelving to become permanently
extended. Something about wanting to get into some cabinet or other; the
woman has no sense of whimsy. ("Oh, yes I do, I gave birth to _you_,
didn't I???", misquoting Audrey Meadows for effect.)

Yep. If you want it hot, put something hot on it for a while. if you
want it cold, put something cold on it for a while.

Actually, it was my understanding that they don't, at least not under
