last 25 years of the 16th century although I rather doubt it. Hardly, a
reason to extrapolate the same usage over the previous thousand years.
Also dismissing a noted gardener's (or a noted herbalist's) work on the basis
of a few less than perfect observations hardly seems fair. If a work is to be
dismissed in entirety because a couple of items are questionable in unrelated
areas then there is no reason to believe that any of the works of anyone
should be gleaned for information since they all contain some errors
somewhere.
