Okay, I've come in way late on this topic, but you could also say in period 
this would be accurate. My husband's exgirlfriend's dad is a rabbi, and he 
states that every single mark in the Torah has to be copied exact, that if it 
isn't exact--a letter corrected, a mark not made--then the entire text to 
that point is burned and it starts again. So, you know in that example they 
have been doing it that way for over a 1000 years.... I
