Linnen? I have noticed no measurable difference in hot climate comfort
between cotton and linnen...
Or research what would have been worn by vikings living in Bysantium?
Since there are no accounts of them being considered unsuitable as
troops due to a high incidence of heat stroke, we can presume that they
solved the problem somehow.

Quick reply--in the States it can be hard as the dickens to find real
linnen, and when you do it is FAR more expensive than cotton. I live in the
South, too, and most of my garb is cotton for those reasons.............
Also, having just been on the fringes of planning a Byzantine event, I
don't think there *is* any info on the clothing of the Vikings who lived
there........... There is blessed little extant clothing from that time and
place that I'm aware of at all--and most of it seems to be Coptic (Egyptian)
rather than truly Byzantine.
I didn't study any of this in depth, though, so I may be mistaken on some
points. But if anyone wants to offer corrections, just send them to me to
avoid cluttering up the list with such off-topic stuff.
Ldy Diana, who would really like some more Byzantine garb--it's
sooooo comfy!
