SC - Period pumpkin recipes

I had a student e-mail and ask about Treacle Pie.  He says it is
Elizabethan, and wants to know how much further back then that it goes.  I
didn't think it went further back then Victoria.  I tried the search engines
on the web.  And looked in Stephan's files, but so far all I have found is a
couple of recipes, no history.

Does anybody else have any ideas?
