Fenalår (fenalaar), that´s the Norwegian version. Or Icelandic hangikjöt -
those lamb or mutton legs we smoked back on the farm would have a thin
covering of soot after hanging for months high above the sheepdung fire and
had to be brushed thoroughly. But they were not very salty and didn´t need
soaking.
