Which is what I witnessed. He was annointed with oil, blessed and named.
This was a christening, both in name (as far as the church and
congregation were concerned) and in fact, if not a baptism. The child
was probably six months old at the time. It would be difficult for me to
locate the minister (as I recall he had the job title of "bishop") to
inquire of him why he broke with Baptist tradition, if indeed he did.
