I have great respect for everyone who has contributed to this thread. I
believe that Lady Seaton is doing a great service to all of us with
allergies with her project. I appreciate the different views of various
people on this subject.
However. I do not appreciate the fact that noone is even attempting to lay
this thread to the rest it richly deserves. I thing we have beaten it over
the head enough now and can we please get back to what this list is about,
discussing period cookery and not analysing if one persons private project
can be called period or no.
Does it really MATTER if someone is adapting period recipes to suit their
allergies? It's all very well to say that they should find period recipes
to suit thier needs, but I'd imagine that it would be more of an adventure
to discover what those recipes that their allergies prohibit may taste
like. I do not believe that Lady Seaton ever claimed these recipes to be
period. Maybe it's time to lay this tread to rest and take up a new topic.
