My sympathies.  I had the same thing happen when I was newly 
married, only the consequences were worse.  We had just moved into a 
rat-trap of a furnished apartment -- temporary quarters while we waited 
for married student housing to become available.  My grandparents had 
generously filled the fridge, including some steaks that we could not 
have easily afforded on a TA's salary.  Everything spoiled, and the 
landlord just shrugged and said he'd replace the fridge, but not the food.

May your new fridge always be filled with something yummy.
