HMMM well they sell Abalone here in Portland Oregon.
but then I know of 100's of foods that they sell here that no-one seens
to think they can get in the States/they city.

Who is at this moment watching the "Iron Chef" cook abalone which I have
not
had since I was a teenager. And, if I understood the TV right, one
cannot
get now in the States.
