How hard boiled is the egg at that point? Wouldn't it just gush out, OR do
you just wrap very carfully & gingerly?>>
In my opinion, an egg boiled 5-6 minutes is not only Hard boiled, it is very
nearly inedible. It is best to put the eggs in cold water, bring it nearly
to a boil, remove from the heat, cover, and let stand. I usually let mine
stand for 5-6 minutes for egg salad or potato salad. For breakfast, I let
them stand for about 3-4 minutes. The beauty of this is that it is hard to
get really overcooked eggs like this. For Scotch Eggs, you could let them
stand 10-15 minutes, be sure they were hard enough, and not worry about
overcooking.
