SC - Sabrina Welserin English translation/translator programQuestions?

My copy has the German, than the English translation/redaction next to it. I 
plan on trying out the various translation programs to see how they do.  Of 
course translation programs do not handle period creative misspellings very 
well.  And for the computer literate, how does one put in the German special 
characters
