Ah the secret is.  Get slices of nice, yeasty fresh bread (made yourself, a couple of hours old, if ya can).  Toast and spread with lashings of Butter (not margarene) and a vapour thin layer of Vegemite.  If the layer is opaque, then it is too thick.

Or a teaspoon or two of vegemite in a beef cassarole (even a french one) gives it a special boost.  That certain 'something'...

Most die-hard aussies will gag if confronted with a slice of bread or cracker with an inch thin smear of vegemite... Gack!
