SC - The Kitchen article

Interesting and but a little simplified.

There were a number of errors and misinformation also.

(For instance, animals were not cooked over a fire. They were cooked over
coals or spitted in front of the fire with a drip pan underneath).

(There is no evidence that food got cold when carried between the kitchen and
the feast hall. This is an assumption based upon the 2 areas being separated.
The distance between the two was not far enough to justify the position
stated in the article).

(The pots were not placed directly on the fire, They were hung from chains
and hooks, sat on legged holders, placed front of the fire or were placed
over holes in fire boxes.)

(Wine and ale was not stored in the kitchen. Perhaps they were drawn off the
large barrels into smaller barrels for use in the kitchen but the wine/ale
storage area was actually located in a different place than the kitchen,
usually in a cellar or below ground recessed area).

Just a thought or two.
