Aldyth,

Check out the 16th C. 'banquets'. These are actually sort of dessert
things, but they seem to be served buffet style so that folks could sip
and snack at leisure. This may be the source of the sca style of
dayboard.

Dayboards seem to be popular at times because food is available no matter
when you are finishing/starting diverse activities, and because
occasionally the limited kitchen facilities, and/or limited kitchen help,
do not lend themselves to doing more than a dish or two at a time.

Personally, I prefer the traditional sca feast.

Regards,
Allison, allilyn at juno.com
