I'd add to the list of convenience foods compost. It takes a while to put up but
once finished, lasts pretty much indefinitely if kept in a cool dry place. I
reckon it was one of those "oops, the neighbors have stopped by for dinner at
the last minute pull it out of the cupboard" sorts of foods.
