Germany and elsewhere, from the time corn was introduced right up to current 
times.  My husband (British) agrees that the best Silver Queen right from 
the garden into the kettle and then well buttered is pretty good stuff.  
Most other forms of corn he's willing to exchange his serving with me for 
themushrooms I don't want, though he likes cornmeal products (tortillas, 
polenta).
