C. Hieatt is the author of 'Pleyn Delyt'. She is considered by some to be an
expert in the field of medieval cookery but her first edition of PD had
several glaring errors. The second edition of the book appeared with most of
the errors corrected. Her redactions when prepared are imminently edible and
very tasty although a few of her ingredients ratios in a couple of recipes
are, IMO, questionable. It contains both the original recipe and the modern
worked out version. Well researched, very accurate and immanently usable,
Pleyn Delyt (the second edition) is a 'must have' for those interested in any
aspect of medieval cookery whether researcher or those looking for ready to
use recipes for home or feast hall. I give this book a thumbs up.
