    Okay, guys... with all that I stated about my views on what is or is not 
"period", I am going to issue a challenge:

    Would the assembled members of this list be so kind as to suggest a menu 
that would fit an "Age of Exploration" feast.  Specifically, I would like 
period recipes from those areas which were contacted by the Europeans during 
the very last years of period.

    Try to be as widespread as you can.  Try to include at least five dishes, 
and let no two originate from the same culture.  And all of them have to be 
documentable as period.

    Think of it as a creativity exercise.  <G>
