Since Ren Faires have come up on this list lately, did anyone else
happen to catch Jay Leno Friday night? He sent some moron, I didn't
catch his name but he was allegedly a comedian, to a Ren Faire. To say
the "humor" was sophomoric is an insult to sophomores everywhere. It
was awful.

The worst low-light was where he wanted to play a basketball shooting
game using cantalopes but was informed that they were out of melons. He
then approached your typical over-endowed/over-stuffed maiden, cupped
his hands about an inch below her protruding mammaries and informed her
"I'm looking for some melons, can you help me find some melons?" In
case we couldn't get the joke, he proceeding to do the same thing with 2
other women, then did a variant when he informed a similarly endowed
milk maiden that "she had nice milk jugs but he was looking for melons."

Another example of his sparkling humor was when the Queen was paraded by
on a litter and everyone was yelling "Save the Queen," he was yelling
"Shave the Queen, use Gillette!" {which he did on 2 different occasions,
probably to fill up his allotted time}. He also felt the need to march
with a fife & drum corps shouting "Lakers!" Vignettes of litter bearers
carrying him around the parking lot looking for his car, him sticking
different magnets on a plate-mailed fighter for a "Martha Stewart
effect," and challenging a knight on horseback to a joust while standing
up in the back of a jeep holding a spear were just as bad.

I felt sorry for the Ren Faire people for putting up with him. It
seemed like he was going out of his way to try to ridicule their entire
way of life {something that's been known to happen to the SCA on
occasion}. Unfortunately, the Tonight Show was a huge forum for his
antics.
