No, pancake suppers are standard in any rural area.  I grew up in rural
Nebraska, most of my family is in Iowa and South Dakota.  We had pancakes
and sausage frequently for supper.  They're also used as fire dept.
fundraisers.

Incidentally, it wasn't until I'd been in school awhile that I learned to
use "lunch" and "dinner."  Mom still says dinner and supper.
