That sounds very odd - even the Christchurch Public Library has at 
least half a dozen books on SCA-period cooking. Try chatting to a 
reference librarian, and maybe doing an Inter-library Loan.

BTW, I could probably bring my books up to St Cath's Fair this year 
if anyone were interested.
