<<Mine grew wonderfully, then croaked almost overnight. A friend had on
in the garden for at least 3 years, then it croaked, again suddenly.>>

My lord plants a new rosemary plant every 2-3 years. I seem to remember
that that was the optimum growing/life span, maybe. Also, the older
plants that thicker, woodier stems that he definately removed after
drying. He of course put in a new plant at this newer house, and the one
we left behind at the old house was probably a 3'x3' bush. IIRC, we'd had
3 rosemary bushes and we lived in the house for 8 years and he never
replanted because the current bush was dead. He's going to school in
Vermont (I'm in Texas) and so far I haven't killed off either the
rosemary or the sage plants he left behind. He does French biointensive
organic gardening, but there's very little in the garden at the moment
because he knew I wouldn't tend it as devotedly as he does. For some
reason, 11 hour work days, a 4 year old, and all the attented household
chores make my days full enough without six beds of garden to tend.
