You know, in the Merchant's Tale, the 'partridge' was named May, and her
husband sitting under the pear tree got an eyefull! (I could of course
go on and on about pears and their imagery re/fecundity, etc., but I
won't. I have to be up at 5:30)

Of course, if you are sitting _under_ the pear tree and a partridge is
in it- merde is merde, no matter what the language... ;-)
