Stefan, my friend, you have just completely destroyed my mother. I
related your message to her & she became very silent & then she told
me the following . . .

My mother had a bunny called Flopsy when she was young. It was given
to her when it was a baby & grew very satisfactorily. However, this
was in the war years, & she came home from school & was told by her
parents that alas, Flopsy had gone to rabbit heaven. Funny enough,
another baby rabbit was bought to replace Flopsy, that too 'died
young'.

Mum remembered at least 10 or so rabbits & had thought that they had
suffered from exceedingly bad luck . . .

After pondering your story, she remembered that following flopsy's (or
the current rabbit's) demise, the family had eaten a very tasty stew.
It was exceptionally notable since this was in a period where they had
very little fresh meat due to rationing.

Mum exclaimed in a horrified voice: "oh no, we ate flopsy", then
thumped me when I fell about laughing <g>
