Why? Using the seed without the fruit covering does make a nice flavored 
dish. It is also as decorative as pepper or any other sprinkling of stuff 
that could be used. The term 'Grain' refers to seeds in most, if not all 
other, instances of its use so IMO there is no justification to interpret it 
as fruit.

I am open to further convincing though.
