SC - Unhistoric things we serve WAS:Shepherds Pie

I see a lot of items served at events that aren't historic to OUR period of
study. Me, I go for Tasty and well cooked first, but I must confess that I
have to do a doubletake over many of the items you can find. Lunch is
frequently the culprit meal, either because less experienced historical
cooks start with Lunch first, or because less effort (or expense)is made to
make lunch an historic meal. At any rate, I have eaten, recently, at events:

Peanut butter and Jelly (pre-sliced wonderbread---that's factory made white
bread to you non US folks)
Cheddarella cheese (marbeled cheese made from cheddar and mozzarella)
Scones (baking powder not being historic to our period)
Chocolate covered Strawberries and other fruit (for which the server is
forgiven)
Soups/stews made with pre-packaged veggies including green peppers,
pimento, corn (maize)
Hot dogs with buns, catsup
Steak and Baked potatoes
Crudites including broccoli, cauliflower, green pepper strips

Any one else?

Sorry, Calico, but there is no period recipe for
shepherd's pie. It is not a period dish by any means.
I haven't done much research on it but it is Victorian
at best, but more likely, it is 20th century.
