No, I don't. But often my autocrats will. It works fairly well, doesn't
take huge amounts of time from those who do it, especially if one
volunteers for one course only, and doesn't rely on extensive
pre-planning which has a tendency to fall through at least somewhat on
the day of the event anyway. Not necessarily the most accurate period
recreation, but it works. As for the ignominy of having to pay and
serve, most people who work at our events do that anyway... .

I often make a point of serving at feasts when possible (often resulting
in others asking me to sit and relax while they serve -- see, I told you
there was method in't...), but for some reason nobody ever asks me to
sit down and let them carve when I'm carrying The Big Knife.

Or, to put it all another way, it pleases [deity] when I serve my King,
Baron, etc. by giving welcome to those the King, Baron, etc., has bade
feast with him this day.
