Ah, thanks, that's the same content i read with the 1963 citation and 
same sources, although i read it on a different URL.

There's also a Fish-and-Chips shop in the UK named Codswallop.

Sounds like someone needs to invent a recipe with this name and give 
it some wacky ancient, but spurious, history.
