So long as we're discussing Lobster races since they do seem to be
popular......

Clan Ravenstar holds an annual Lobster Race at Mountain Confederation most
years at Pennsic. Although the format has varied a couple of times, the usual
procedure is to put the kettle on to boil, get dressed in your finest court
garb and have at it.

Any folks who are aware of the Race and show up in appropriate dress (the
finest they have for Pennsic whatever that may be tunic or cod) are welcome
to participate. The Clan provides all the main and side dishes for the meal.
BYOB is encouraged but optional.

Each person is required to also bring their own seafood in order to
participate. The preferred seafood is, of course, a live lobster although
shrimp and other things have been known to arrive. One year a piece of beef
ran the race. DON"T ASK! :-)

A course is set around the camp or up the road and back, etc. The Racers
stand in a line holding their seafood and the start signal is given. The
person who makes it around the race course and back to the boiling kettle
first is the winner and has the dubious privilege of dropping all the
lobsters and other assorted creatures into the pot. :-)

When they are done cooking, a fantastic feast and a good time is hopefully
had by all.

Ras
