SC - Cucumbers: Recipe & Question

There's a recipe in the Knowne World handbook for cukes and I think yogurt 
and other stuff.  I remember when we were 'making fun' of the knowne world 
handbook recipes and how period accurate they really were.  Someone said 
the cuke recipe was period, it might have mentioned a source.  Not sure 
though.  The k. w. handbook I have is at least 11 years old.
