The squash I am having a brain f**t trying to remember the name of is NOT a
butternut squash. It looks very much like one but is much larger and has an
elongated neck. If you are using actual pumpkins then sugar pumpkins are the
choice. The large jack-o'-lantern type seem to be bland and have coarser
flesh. The really big pumpkins that you see in contests weighing upwards of a
hundred pounds or more are actually a variety of winter squash and also make
very good pumpkin like pies.
