SC - Mexican Chocolate Bread and more

This weekend my barony had a pot luck at Kingdom's Crusade. Since I cook when
I'm stressed and had a very stressful Friday (speeding ticket) I ended up
taking 3 things.

1) the Mexican Chocolate Bread, which I am happy to say came out well even
though I do not have a bread machine and had never tried making bread without
step by step instructions. This was well recieved by everyone who tried it
and came out with a light chocolate flavor :) However not very many people
tried this and I ended up with more than half left.

2) The rice pudding posted here a while ago. I loved this recipe and will
make it again. It went over really well. I just had 2 problems. I had never
done anything with dates before and did not realize I had to pit them :( and
for the life of me I could not figure out where to find suet in the grocery
store. I know you can get it to feed birds and small animals in the winter,
but I don't really know what it is. So I left that out.

3) A really good sweet cornbread recipe that I found on the web. I'll try to
post the recipe later. That went over so well that there were only crumbs to
clean up. :)

The real disappointment was that the spice merchant who was there last year
did not show. I was looking forward to purchasing some things to start my
attempt at period cooking. Oh well, Crown is coming soon and if there isn't a
merchant there I will just have to order from the web.
