Thanks mi'Lady :-)   ... I've never done tamales from a kit, but have done
most of my Mexican foods from kits until now.

You'll find many varieties of dried chilis in the latino markets.  Ancho, poblano, etc. They vary in heat perceived as well as flavor profile.  You can find information on the net,then go to the Farmers' Markets or latino grocerie to get them.  I have been quite pleased with the selections, though I haven't used as many yet as I wish to.  I will be blending my own chili powders eventually, but have not found a good base mixture to start from.  When I researsh that, then I can get some good blends together for various uses,
