I have had great success by putting said item in a sealed bag. Placing sealed 
bag into another bag that is filled with water and then freezing the whole 
kit and caboodle. No freezer burn, since it's the oxygen that causes it. 
Takes a while to thaw, but I preserved a whole salmon my brother in law 
caught that way and it was incredible.
