SC - food and bug bites

I have several herb books that mention allicin(sp?), the stinky component
of garlic, as a bug repellant.  it apparently tastes most foul to those
of blood-sucking tendancies.  one of those herbals also mentions as an
aside that bananas do attract mosquitoes.  my personal experience
verifies both enough for me to think long and hard before eating bananas
if i'm going out.  but for those times i forget, i invested in a really
good anti-itch gel, rhuli.
