Aelfwyn, you'd mentioned that the lady cooking the feast for the Crown
Tourney of Andreas and Isabella was a bit concerned about Their
Majesties'-to-be interest in period authenticity, and her ability to
produce a feast addressing that interest. In short, a sort of "Ooooh, I
hope they don't hate it!"

I had the opportunity to briefly discuss this issue with HRH Isabella
last night, and I was left with the impression that rule number one was
not to worry.

Personal preferences on her account include a predilection for
late-period English foods (she being a late-period English lady, and
all), tarts of all kinds, both sweet and savory (Brie tart was
specifically mentioned), dishes containing copious leeks, especially
leeks with white wine (i.e. Slytte Soppes and, perhaps, that French dish
of leeks with a white sauce of almond milk, which I suspect would be
smashing using white wine to make the almond milk). She also referred to
soups and pottages with a lot of vegetables, and just a bit of meat.

Now, I know this isn't directly in address of the authenticity issue,
although HRH asserts that authenticity is definitely a plus, and there
are period sources for recipes that will produce foods of these kinds.

I realize also that the feast is just over a month away, give or take,
and it may not be practical to change the menu too much, but if the lady
would like to discuss her menu here, I'm sure people would be happy to
provide feedback.
