in all the basil still left on the plant, mince it up and stick it in a

After I do this, do I have to keep the oilve oil in the frige? Will the
basil go bad if it just sits in the oil on the shelf in my pantry?

Your biggest concern is bacterial growth. I would recommend not only
refrigerating the oil, but making sure that the basil is completely covered
in oil. The oil will turn thick and opaque in the cold, but it warms nicely.
Though, are you sure you wouldn't rather make a lovely pesto instead? It
really is easy and a spoonful can flavor a whole dish.
