Your biggest concern is bacterial growth.  I would recommend not only 
refrigerating the oil, but making sure that the basil is completely covered 
in oil.  The oil will turn thick and opaque in the cold, but it warms nicely. 

Though, are you sure you wouldn't rather make a lovely pesto instead?  It 
really is easy and a spoonful can flavor a whole dish.
