Milk in cole slaw? new one on me...

I prefer sweet coleslaw too.I think it's a southern
thing. But I dont like KFC's, it has raw onions in
it...Blech. Not in slaw. But the worst fast food slaw
has to be Popeyes. It has sweet pickles ground up in
it. and onions to boot.

In my opinion, a big ole barbeque sandwich NEEDS
sweet coleslaw on it, or at least with it. But I like
my bbq sauce sweet and firey. And a mayo or miracle
whip based coleslaw helps to cut the heat.
My cole slaw is shredded cabbage, carrots, and a
dressing of miracle whip, vinegar, a couple of
teaspoons of sugar, and a good pinch of salt. It's one
of the few things I make with no frills, or
"sparklers" as my husband and a couple of good friends
like to tease me.

I read something in readers digest on a plane a few
years ago that explored the theory that a climates
heat and the spiciness ans sweetness of local foods
were directly related. ANd I think the author may
have been on to something. In the US, the desserts
tend to be sweeter and the food tend to be spicier in
south and southwest than they do up north. I had a
neighbor from the NY/HJ area, and everything I cooked
was too hot for her, or too sweet for her, even stuff
I considered extremely mild or even bland.BUt it's the
same in Europe, Germany's food isn't quite as spicy as
somewhere like Italy or Spain where the climate is
hotter. But it's a thought. Just figured I'd throw
that one out there and see what you guys thought.
