Greetings. The manteca discussion is interesting. I, too, had
learned "manteca" as "lard", but when studying in Argentina in my
"younger days" (some 40 years ago!), the folk there use "manteca"
for "butter" and don't use the term "mantequilla". At that time
I wasn't so curious as to ask what term they used for "lard"...
