The reason that the UK doesn't want to vaccinate against it is that a) it
would lose it's disease-free status (hasn't it already? It not why not?),
and b) their meat would sell for less at market.

And, of course, the media beats up any story it possibly can to sell
newspapers.

So basically, yes, the whole fuss is about money.

Speaking of which, the EU has banned the sale of T-Bone steaks, as the bone
is the vertibrae, and the spinal cord can get the Mad Cow bits in it from
the brain during the kill. I'm SO glad we don't have Mad Cow in Australia
(apart from the obvious, of course), or we wouldn't know what to do with the
traditional Aussie BBQ. I suppose we'd still have the snags, beer, and the
separation of preparation jobs for women and men, but it just wouldn't be
the same.
