Beacuse we are, statistically, an unproductive prey species? Much less
meat then a moose, and occationally (and presumably unpredictably)
dangerous. "Oh shit, this is one with a sword. Fu...". When the land is
full of sheep that is much better prey if there is no guard dogs (a
detecable danger).

But this is off topic, so I'll shut up here and now on this.
