Oh, it suddenly occurred to me that I ought to mention that I am nowhere
near a Walmart - and a long way from any supply of American sweets *smile*.
This celebration will be held in Tasmania, Australia (oh, and if anyone on
the List - and I aim this mostly at Lochacites - feels that they would like
to attend/receive an invitation for their files (*smile*), they could email
me privately and I will add them to the guest list with great pleasure. I
did make the Ben Hur comparison already, didn't I? *grin* We have made the
"do" partially catered and partially bring-a-plate so that we can extend the
guest list almost indefinitely.)

Cotton candy (here in Australia called fairy floss) is already on the menu -
it was there before we came up with an excuse for it! I have played with
the idea of caramel apples (toffee apples here), but the apples which are
available in December are not the nicest. Also, I am trying to avoid too
many tasks which need to be done near the day. However, if a person
volunteered ... *smile*).

The real reason we came up with the fair theme was that we were both agreed
that we wanted lots of different favours but we couldn't think of a way to
distribute them at a non-seated meal. The idea of bran dips (or whatever
they were called - lucky dips with the parcels buried in buckets of bran, I
have read about them) came to me and from there the rest just flowed.
