  okay, we may have a mix-up between HMD and BSE (mad cow disease). Hoof =
and Mouth is not transmitted to humans - we can't be made sick by it. =
The disease is caused by a virus which can be carried on inanimate =
objects, such as clothing and soil, ect. It's such a pain in the butt =
since it only takes one to get a cloven hoof animal sick, and the bugger =
can live for a long time between hosts.
  Mad cow disease, on the other hand, is transmitted to humans, causing =
us to get sick. It's caused by a rouge protien which can permeate the =
blood-brain barrier. However, you can't catch BSE except by eating =
contaiminated nerve tissue.=20
