I'm at work, so .. it seems to me that the standard cookbooks (BC, FF, etc) tell you to stab the eyes and drain the liquer, then bake the nut in a 325 oven for about 20 minutes.  The heat causes the internal liquids to expand and BAM!  the thing breaks open into a number of pieces.  Never tried it with a rock, hmmm...
